The dates, location and price of the first Twitter conference have been announced on the Chirp Homepage. Based in San Francisco on April 14th-15th 2010, there are going to be speeches from various Twitter employees (Dick Costolo, Ryan Sarver, Biz Stone, and Ev Williams) and the first batch of tickets are selling fast at $469 each, including entry to an informal after party.
This is cementing Twitter’s position as a central part of the social media picture for some years to come, as more time is put into building clients to consume the service. A good example of this is the release of Seesmic’s new Twitter client last week, geared up for technophobes, which will no doubt spread the service to a previously untapped market as well as increasing use for existing twitterers.
So now tweets are potentially included in Google’s SERPs as part of a step towards real time search results, this is a good time to start using Twitter if you’re not already. In the short term, you can advertise your own posts on Twitter by auto-posting using service like Posterous. In the long term, you’ll no doubt need to consider Twitter in your social media strategy, with uses ranging from broadcasting to community management and customer service.
